Quests and their completion are the driving force behind nearly every RPG. Many adventures begin in a tavern (after all, think of the classic Eye of the Beholder series), but it's certainly great to create motivations and quest assignments that lead to more diverse and rich adventures.

Many quests start in a city or another civilized location, but further in the book, you'll also find tips for encounters and adventures awaiting heroes on their journeys. Some encounters may not even lead to a quest or a trip to a dungeon; they could simply add variety to what might otherwise be a typical journey, where the heroes camp and fight off monsters that ambush them. Especially if your game leans into roleplaying and immersion into the game world, it's a good idea to spice up the travel experience in this way...
